Incentives Package for Schools
Northern Vermont Composting Partnership

School Incentives

  • Free hauling and tipping fees for the school until the end of the school year—supported by the NVCP grant as well as the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District or the Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District.
  • During the incentive period The Highfields Institute, and the regional solid waste management district, will work with the school to renegotiate its trash contract. In preparation for negotiations we will track the volume of food scraps your school is diverting and create a waste management cost assessment.

  • $5.00 every time the truck stops at the school
  • $30.00 per ton tipping fee at the composting site ($ 3.30 per tote—each tote generally weighs 220 pounds) The Tipping fee will be prorated for half full totes.
